Shaking Pit Bull Won’t Leave Shelter Corner, Heard A Voice And Moved Forward

Dog shelters are not ideal places for dogs to stay for long periods of time. While we realize that these dogs have homes and food, life in a shelter can be overwhelming. It is loud and chaotic, with constant barking. The kennels are often sparsely furnished. A shelter can be scary for a dog used to living in a house.

Carson, a lovely Pit Bull, was left in a shelter after his family decided they had had enough of him. After his family gave up on him, they surrendered him. He did have some allergies that caused skin problems, but he was a great dog. Carson was clearly too disturbed in the shelter environment to be left alone. He just lay down and shook violently as everyone’s heart broke.

Lauren, a volunteer with the Philly Bully Team, heard about Carson and decided to rescue him from the shelter and bring him home. She knew a dog like Carson needed to feel safe in order to thrive. Carson was grateful to his rescuer from the moment he saw her. Wherever Lauren went, so did Carson. They were an ideal match. Lauren understood that this puppy needed constant attention and she made sure he got it.

Lauren also knew they were a match made in heaven, and she let the rescue group know that she wanted to make the adoption final. They agreed. Carson is overjoyed to be reunited with Lauren, that he won’t lose sight of her. It’s very endearing when you think about it, except when she needs to get things done, like working from home. A 60-pound dog on your lap can be a hindrance. Lauren on the other hand is such a good sport!

Cuddling, on the other hand, is Carson’s favorite pastime. He likes to go for walks and looks for the best sticks. He likes to walk with a stick in his mouth. According to Laurens “his whole body is wagging. It’s beautiful to see a dog go from trembling and terrified to a happy boy. When Carson comes home from his walks, he’ll jump on the couch and wag the biggest tail you’ve ever seen. All you can hear is the swishing of his elated tail as it hits the ground.

His mother, Lauren, says in the video below that:

“His mission in life is to curl up on the couch with me.” Sounds like Carson has clear priorities!
